Disguise a Bad Haircut

Does your short style give you the shivers? Apply pomade or extra-strength gel to wet hair and blow-dry from beneath to add volume. "Tousle your hair with your fingers to change the profile of the cut," says Daines. If that classic bob makes you look like a blockhead, get out your hot rollers or curling iron. "Put some motion into the style," says Mark Garrison, owner of Mark Garrison Salon, in New York City. Curl hair under, then finger-comb for a lively, curlier look. Choosing a Hair color The number one rule for finding the most flattering hair color is to choose a color that compliments your natural hair and skin colors. Be realistic, you won't want to choose one of the black shades if your skin is very fair, or, if your natural hair is very dark and your complexion dark or olive, Marilyn Monroe blond probably isn't for you. In addition, if you have never colored you hair before you will find that the hair color samples are rarely an accurate depiction of the actual color. Most women find that choosing a color that is a shade lighter than that of the sample will give best results. Experiement and have fun with it. |
